Unbeknownst to the hacker, Diego is currently being investigated by TriOptimum for suspected impropriety, and the hacker's appearance presents him with a golden opportunity to cover the trail of his past misdeeds. Caught red-handed in the process of accessing protected information regarding TriOptimum's orbital research platform, Citadel Station, he is immediately transported to the station by TriOptimum security, where the company's Vice President Edward Diego confronts him personally. On April 7, 2072, as he attempts to hack TriOptimum's corporate network, he unwittingly sets in motion a chain of events which nearly culminates in the destruction of Earth.
